2nd Pair of Jeans

Each year, the 2nd Pair of Jeans program helps families in the Randolph School District by providing gift cards to local clothing stores. Through this outreach, we aim to help prevent any distractions or stigmas that are associated with clothing by covering some of the basics for students in need. It is a natural extension of the district’s emphasis on social, and emotional well-being of each child.

The 2nd Pair of Jeans program is one of the original Randolph Education Foundation outreach efforts. It was born of an actual need in our district. A student who needed a change of clothes on a class trip did not have the privilege of another pair of jeans. From this incident, the REF saw first hand a need in our district and created this program to serve families in financial need.

The program currently is biannual, the families receive gift cards for winter clothes in December, before the holidays, and again in the late spring for summer clothes. Last spring, the foundation provided assistance for over 100 families in the district. Over the years, other in-kind donations through the 2nd Pair of Jeans program have included laptops, winter jackets, school supplies and grocery gift cards. The program has funded educational initiatives as well such as sponsoring a Future Business Leader of America student to attend a conference when financial assistance was needed.

This program has been in existence since the foundation’s inception and has donated close to $70,000 as it has remained a priority for the foundation for over 10 years. You can contribute to our efforts supporting students in need in the Randolph schools by making a donation.
